Arrest Of Suspect For Vandalizing 28 High-Tension Wire Spindle Pins

In a successful operation carried out on Sunday, August 20, 2023, the Anti-Vandal team of the Katsina State Command apprehended a suspect identified as Halilu Suleiman, a 35-year-old laborer hailing from Are Village in Rimi Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State. Suleiman, who has gained notoriety for his involvement in vandalizing and removing electric spindle pins from high-tension wires, was taken into custody based on credible intelligence.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime. He disclosed that on the same day, August 20, 2023, he had vandalized a total of 28 pieces of spindle pins from high-tension wires in Are Village of Rimi LGA. Subsequently, he had attempted to transport these stolen items to scrap vendors at a market located in Charanchi LGA.

However, while en route to Charanchi LGA, he was apprehended by the dedicated personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The law enforcement officers successfully recovered all 28 pieces of 33KV line spindle pins of high-tension wire that had been stolen from the suspect’s possession.

Following the arrest and recovery of the stolen items, the suspect, Halilu Suleiman, will undergo further investigation. Upon the completion of the investigation, he will be brought before a competent court for prosecution in accordance with the law.

Commandant Buhari Hamisu, the spokesperson of the Katsina Command, issued a stern warning to all criminal elements within the state to cease their illicit activities. He emphasized that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in collaboration with other security agencies, will tirelessly pursue individuals engaged in criminal acts.

The Commandant also urged the general public to contribute to the efforts of law enforcement agencies by providing reliable and timely intelligence that can help uncover the activities of miscreants within the state.
